The company was founded in 1864 and has been one of the most organized and well reputed firms since its inception. The company was also involved in one of the most historic acquisitions with Citicorp in 1998 which resulted in Citigroup.

After the acquisition completed its first year, IPO reported that Citigroup had 5 million Class B shares in its inventory that received seven votes each. Furthermore, Class A shares were 269 million receiving one vote each. Hence, this totaled 94% of total voting power carried out by TPC voting security and 77% of the equity interest. It is said that TPC and IPO together offered 4.5% of adjustable notes.
